Frequently Asked Questions

» When will the trek happen?

The Everest Trek 2010 will take place between April/15 until the middle of May, or about four weeks. We will try to coordinate our arrival to Base Camp at the time Everest climbers will be just finishing their acclimatization and preparing for the summit push.

» How long will the trek last?

The duration of this trek will be about 4 weeks roundtrip.

» Where will we meet to begin the trek?

Nepal’s capital city, Kathmandu is where we will begin and end the trek. As one of the World’s most famous (or is it infamous?) cities, visiting Kathmandu will be an adventure in itself. I love this city and always look forward to spending time there.

» Are you guys guiding the trek all by yourselves?

No. We will be leading the trek, but all of the logistics, guiding, flotsam and jetsam will be handled by Mountain Tribes. MT is a Nepali owned, Kathmandu-based company that has a stellar reputation for adventuresome, safe and enjoyable treks and mountaineering. If you’ve watched Jon’s podcast then you are already familiar with some of Mountain Tribes’ staff. These guys are top notch.

» How many people will be able to join the trek?

So far, we’re thinking that in order to guarantee a successful learning environment for the workshop aspect of this trek we will need to limit the group to 15 participants plus Jon, Chris & Monika and their Sherpa staff. This is going to be a very intense experience and we want to keep it small so everyone will get to know each other and still have full access to Jon & Chris.

» How much will this adventure cost?

Please see the newsletter that we sent out Sep/1/2009. It contains all information on pricing and registration.

» What equipment do I need to bring for the trek

Here is the the equipment list from last year's trek as a PDF file, as provided by Jon Miller. The list contents are based on Jon's experience and have proven to be pretty accurate and practical on the 2009 trek.

» I’m very interested. How do I get more information?

Right now the best way to stay current as the trek continues to evolve is to sign up for our email updates. You can subscribe to the updates in the sidebar of this page.
